Chawner & Co

Chawner & Co. was one of the most prominent English silver flatware manufacturers of the 19th century. Established around 1815 by William Chawner, the company gained a reputation for producing high-quality silverware. Upon William's death in 1834, his widow Mary Chawner took over, followed by her son-in-law, George Adams, who assumed control in 1840. Under Adams' leadership, the company flourished, becoming the largest specialist maker of silver flatware in Victorian England. Not only was its output prodigous, but the firm was renowned for its quality and variety of patterns.
