D. F. Haynes & Co

With roots in ceramics wholesaler Ammidon and Company, D. F. Haynes & Co was established by David Francis Haynes (1835 - 1908) when he became its sole owner in 1877. In 1882, he bought the Chesapeake Pottery plant in Baltimore, establishing a reputation for the firm as a leader in artistic and innovative ceramics. The firm changed ownership a few times but returned to the Haynes family before closing in 1914.

Its wares are recognized for their quality and artistic merit, and thus have become highly collectible as an example of early and transitional American ceramics production.
