Daybreak was Maxfield Parrish's (American, 1870 - 1966) landmark oeuvre which placed him indelibly on the artistic firmament in American culture and homes. It is difficult to overstate the significance of this print which was specifically commissioned by the House of Art of New York for the sale of his prints after Crane's candy box cover brought significant success for the candy maker.

This print is in its original frame and bears the telltale marks of the House of Art and Maxfield Parrish. Daybreak came in multiple sizes, but this one is the largest. Printing began in 1923 after the painting was completed in December 1922.
